AT&T now accepts cryptocurrency payments

AT&T, a US multinational telecommunications group, has partnered with Bitpay to allow users to pay their bills in cryptocurrency. Customers can use the AT&T online platform when they log in to their account and choose Bitpay as their payment option. This allows customers to access the Bitpay Payment Portal, where they can choose BCH or BTC to pay their bills. AT&T's customer base is very large, and the company ranks ninth in the US Fortune 500 rankings based on total revenue.

AT&T decided to work with Bitpay and accept BCH and BTC because the company wanted to offer different payment methods to better serve its customers. Kevin Mcdorman, vice president of communications finance operations at AT&T, is pleased to offer more payment options to customers. Kevin Mcdorman also stated in the announcement,

We are always looking for ways to improve and extend our services. We have customers who use cryptocurrencies and we are happy that we can provide them with a way to pay their bills the way they like.

Large companies accepting cryptocurrencies is good news for most digital currency enthusiasts
Currently not available in AT&T stores, cryptocurrencies cannot be used to purchase mobile devices or products. The partnership with Bitpay applies only to the bill payment service of the telecommunications company. The company began serving as Southwest Bell Telephone Company in 1880. Since renaming it to AT&T, the company has become the second largest mobile service company in the US and the company's number one fixed-line phone supplier.

Of course, cryptocurrency fans on social media are happy to hear AT&T accept digital currency. Bitcoin cash fans on the Reddit Forum r/btc celebrated the acceptance of digital currency by big merchants after the announcement. One of the r/btc hosts commented,

Wow, it’s been a while, because we’ve heard that a big company is starting to accept cryptocurrency payments, and this is not the case with some third parties like Flexa – which means they accept BCH-AT&T.

Note: Flexa is a payment system compatible with the Ethereum network. Currently, it supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin cash.
