Introduction

Recently Friedcat has released BE-200 chip based bitcoin miner called “Friedcat Tube”. Evaluation of the brand new miner are shown below.

Friedcat Tube was packed by 5 cartons and rigid foam.

Accessories included a controller, 4 short data cables and 2 long data cables.

The controller has no power adapter, you have to prepare a 12V 1A power adapter or better.

Installation:

Connect the fan power interface to any hash board you like.

The miner has 4 hash boards, each hash board consist 24 hash units, so the miner has 96 hash units.

Each hash board has 2 data interfaces.

Use 3 short data cables to connect 4 hash boards, #2 Port connect to #1 port of another hash board, in this way 4 hash boards are cascaded connected.

Now we have 2 free data interfaces: #1 port of #1 hash board and #2 port of #4 hash board. Use a long data cable to connect #1 port of #1 hash board and the right port of the controller.

We use 2 SUPER FLOWER 500W power supplies to do the evaluation.

Connect the 6-pin output to any power interface of each hash board.

Setup the controller by connectingit with a network cable and a power adapter.

Before powering up the miner, you have to configure the DIP switches, default settings are off.

Setting methods are shown below. A controller can control up to 8 miners, but currently I only have 4 hash boards, so I apply #1M settings.

Power up the miner, when the miner is in operation,controller statusshould look like as shown below.

Test:

Default configuration WEB IP address is 192.168.0.254, if your device is in different gateway, modify the IP address according this instruction:  http://www.cybtc.com/thread-9843-1-1.html

Test status shows the status of every single hash unit, “o”means OK, “-”means undefined status, “.” Means error.

Click “Update/Restart” when finish setting parameters.



If you updated the settings, wait for rebooting.

According to the 22-hour hash rate curve from ghash.io, the miner is quite stable, hash rate is above 800 GHash/s at 270 MHz.

Lab temperature: 30℃, lab noise: 42dB.
Power consumption: 960W at 270 Mhz.

Summary:

1. Fair packaging, soft cartons and insufficient rigid foam may cause damage when delivering the miner.
2. DIY skill required to install the miner.
3. Actual hash rate meets the official data well.
4. Power consumption is a bit high.
5. The controller performs well, but you need to prepare a power adapter, which is not convenient.
6. Backup mining pool is not supported.
7. Hash board is a bit hot, be aware of your room temperature.
8. The miner is a bit noisy.
9. Good compact design, mediocre performance.
10. Overclock is possible.
