Hi,i'm Rickey,We meet again. This time, I need give my S1 a minor operation,in order to let it work for another 3 month.
Specific methods:Modify some resistance to reduce chip voltage and frequency. While hashrate reducing, power consumption will be significantly reduced.

Q&A

Q:Why don't you directly reduce the frequency?

A:No, if only to reduce the operating frequency and does not modify the resistance, chip voltage does not change, power
consumption will not be much reduced.

(for example:When frequency is at 381.25 Mhz,S1's hashrate is about 195G with 390w consumption.If you do not modify the resistance, but just reduced to 200 Mhz frequency, probably hashrate is only 100G left but only reduce 60w consumption.)

Q:The power is reduced but hashate is also much lower,so what is the significance?

A:Our purpose is to reduce the power ratio, that means your miner will be more efficient. After testing:the modified S1 can run at 225Mhz frequency with 115G hashrate, the consumption is only about 115w.Power ratio is about 1W/G.

How to do it:

1.Here is a S1's hashboard.I pasted heatsinks on the chip.

2.We need tools like:

  1.Electric iron
  2.Solder
  3.Chip resistor:3.24KΩ±1% 0603 mode
  4.Patient&Carefully

3.There are 4 of resistance need to be replaced on each hashboard.(R3,R66,R38,R52)

4.The size of the resistance smaller than a grain of rice.

Before i replaced R3,like this:

After replaced:

So you need do the same thing on R66,R38,R52

5.After all of these,The hashboard and heatsink should be assembled together.
6.Finally,i received S1 control board.

7.Connect the power and network cable.

Test:

I first tested the 193 Mhz and 200 Mhz frequency, but the hashrate is 0!Then i tested 150 Mhz and 175 Mhz,it worked.I had no choice but to change 3.24KΩ resistance for 4.02KΩ resistance.Re-energized test it really worked  under 200Mhz frequency. At this time the hashrate reached about 100G.(225 Mhz@115G)

Before modify:381.25 Mhz @195G,390w consumption.

After modify:225 Mhz@115G,146w consumption.(PSU not 80PLUS GOLD).It's about 1.26w/G.

Here is the different frequency settings:(you should modify /etc/config/asic-freq file)

01            option 'freq_value'    '0881'  #225M
02            option 'chip_freq'     '225'
03            option 'timeout'       '55'
04
05            #option 'freq_value'    '0781'  #200M
06            #option 'chip_freq'     '200'
07            #option 'timeout'       '60'
08
09            #option 'freq_value'    '4f02'  #193M
10            #option 'chip_freq'     '193'
11            #option 'timeout'       '70'
12
13            #option 'freq_value'    '0681'  #175M
14            #option 'chip_freq'     '175'
15            #option 'timeout'       '80'
